Recipe: Vacherin Mont d'Or with Sausages by Cyril Lignac

Serves: 4

Ingredients:

  • 1 whole Vacherin Mont d’Or
  • 1 Morteau sausage or 3 chipolatas
  • 2 eggs
  • 120 g flour
  • 60 g melted butter
  • 3 cl milk
  • 1 tbsp. baking powder
  • Fine salt and ground pepper

Utensils needed:

  • 1 pot of boiling water + 1 slotted spoon + 1 frying pan
  • 1 cutting board + 1 chef's knife + 1 tablespoon
  • 1 salad bowl + 1 whisk + 1 spatula
  • 1 baking sheet

Preparation steps:

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C.
  2. Cook the sausage(s) in boiling water, then brown in a pan. Slice once nicely colored.
  3. Remove the cheese from its wooden box and crust. Cut into pieces and set aside.
  4. Whisk eggs, flour, melted butter, milk, baking powder, salt, and pepper. Fold in sausages and cheese. (Save any extra cheese to melt over potatoes later.)
  5. Pour mixture back into the wooden box.
  6. Place on a baking sheet and bake for 30 minutes.
