Yvonne's Countdown: Gearing Up for My First 220km Zuiderzee Classic Ride

Yvonne, 29, is set to tackle the Zuiderzee Classic this Saturday—her first 220km cycling challenge. Is she ready? As an experienced cyclist who's logged 180km rides, she's trained hard and raised funds for vital colon cancer research.

Yvonne: The 220km Zuiderzee Classic is almost here—just a few more nights' sleep before it's go time. It's all about cycling for a cause: raising money for colon cancer research. The event website shows over €60,000 raised already, with more than 500 riders across the three distances. Fantastic! Sponsors are still welcome—check out www.zuiderzeeklassieker.nl for details.

First Time for 220km
I've never ridden 220km on my road bike before—180km was my longest. This is uncharted territory! Time isn't the goal; it's about pushing through, savoring the journey, and appreciating my body's resilience when fueled and rested properly. Staying healthy means cherishing these capabilities.

Perfect Weather Ahead?
I'll ease up this week: light exercise only, as yesterday's muscle soreness from a thrilling woodland duathlon needs to fade by Saturday. That duathlon was exhilarating—and the weather was spot-on. Here's hoping for more of the same next week! I'd love to ride in shorts, flashing my pale legs one last time before winter, then give my bike a good clean and store it away.

See You Saturday!
Team update: Siegrid had to drop out, but Edith and May have joined—now we're five strong women. We start at 7:30 a.m. Come cheer us on at the start, or catch us at the finish later!

Yvonne, best of luck—you've got this!
