An Omnibus study by Qilibri in partnership with Opinion Way (June 26-28, 2020) on 1,003 nationally representative French women aged 18+ found 67% feel insecure about their bodies—a notable concern. This peaks among ages 35-44 (82%), lower socioeconomic groups (CSP- at 78%), mothers (74%), and 18-24-year-olds (58%). Media amplifies it: ads (86%), social networks (79%), TV (84%).
French adults view their bodies critically, scoring physical well-being (weight, figure, appearance) at 6.3/10 overall. Men rate higher (6.6/10) than women (5.9/10). Men under 35 are most generous (7/10); women over 35 strictest (5.8/10).
Women are most affected: 38% feel unhappy with their physique. 11% have had cosmetic surgery (8% once, 3% multiple times); 12% consider it, rising to 25% among 18-24-year-olds.
Weight worries persist—53% feel overweight. To lose weight and gain confidence, 90% plan varied diets, 86% more exercise.
