Ginger Proven to Reduce Post-Workout Muscle Soreness: Key Study Findings

Experiencing muscle soreness after intense exercise? Consuming ginger offers natural pain relief, as demonstrated by research from Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville.

The medicinal benefits of ginger are well-established, especially in traditional Chinese medicine for combating nausea and upset stomach. Now, studies confirm it also effectively reduces muscle soreness after workouts.

The Study
In a controlled experiment, researchers had 74 participants perform exercises designed to induce maximum muscle soreness. Over an 11-day training period, they received a daily nutritional supplement—alternating between real ginger and placebos. Muscle pain dropped by 25% among those taking ginger.

The findings were published in The Journal of Pain.
