Lack of motivation is the top reason people let their gym memberships lapse, according to research from McFit, Germany's largest fitness chain.
Research firm Puls surveyed 1,000 former McFit customers to pinpoint why they weren't fully using their subscriptions or renewing them.

The results showed it's rarely the gym's fault—issues like staff quality or cheaper competitors weren't factors. Instead, 92% of respondents cited their own lack of motivation to work out or renew.
