One Fruit a Day Cuts Stroke Risk by 25% and Heart Attacks by 15%, Landmark Oxford Study Reveals

"One apple a day keeps the doctor away!" This timeless English proverb is now supported by robust scientific evidence. Best of all, apples aren't the only fruits delivering powerful health benefits.

Researchers from the University of Oxford, in collaboration with the China Kadoorie Biobank (CKB), presented their findings at the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) Congress in Barcelona earlier this week: consuming one piece of fruit daily significantly lowers the risk of heart attacks and strokes.

The study followed 451,681 Chinese adults with no prior heart disease or hypertension treatment over seven years. The aim was to evaluate fruit intake's impact on cardiovascular risk—heart disease, which causes about 4 million deaths annually in Europe, twice as many as all cancers combined.

Key results: daily fruit consumption reduced heart attack risk by 15%, stroke risk by 25%, and hemorrhagic stroke risk by 40%.

These insights from leading experts provide even more motivation to enjoy fresh fruit and prioritize heart-healthy habits.
