"It's good, it's behind us. After weeks of anxious waiting, the tests confirmed we've won this battle." These words come from Alice Detollenaere, who at 32 has triumphed over breast cancer and joined the ranks of survivors. The disease loomed over her throughout 2019 like a sword of Damocles. "It's done. After months of tests, doubts, and medical uncertainties, my diseased breast has finally been removed. We've been holding our breath for months. I say 'we' because illness doesn't strike alone—it impacts our loved ones too." She shared this update on Instagram on January 8. Her partner, Olympic swimmer Camille Lacourt, reposted it to his story, captioning it "My wife, My Hero."
Almost a month later, on February 4, Alice announced her full recovery in a new Instagram post, concluding with a tribute to Camille: "Thank you, Camille—you were my love, you became my soul sister. Courage to all who continue fighting; hold onto that fierce desire to live."
Camille Lacourt shared his own emotional response on Instagram, showcasing his deep admiration: "This battle, you won it—but above all, you gave courage, strength, and positive energy to other warriors. You spent hours encouraging strangers, sharing info, and explaining your journey. The trauma of a reconstructed breast that's not your own... How did you embrace it, love it? I loved it instantly—it represents your strength, courage, our unbreakable support, love's triumph over illness, and so much more. I am so proud and so in love with you!"
