Chiropractor Invents 'Mensez' Glue as Menstrual Protection Alternative

Menstruation remains a deeply personal experience for women, yet innovative—and sometimes controversial—solutions continue to emerge. Tired of traditional options like pads, tampons, or cups, Kansas chiropractor Daniel Dopps developed Mensez, a glue designed to seal the vaginal lips and contain menstrual flow. This invention, while unconventional, aims to offer a new approach.

“Natural” Protection

Mensez, derived from the English term 'menses' for menstruation, resembles a lipstick applicator. Marketed on its official site as a natural formula of amino acids and oils, it promises to dissolve via urine, allowing women to release accumulated blood during bathroom visits before reapplying. Dopps positions it as a safer, more hygienic alternative to pads and tampons, potentially reducing infection risks. However, experts question its practicality: Can it withstand blood while dissolving in urine? Self-application in a hard-to-visualize area raises hygiene concerns, and prolonged sealing of vaginal lips could increase infection risks, as this area is not meant to remain closed.

Awaiting Commercialization

In a Forbes interview, Dopps emphasized his focus on women's health, aiming to free them from constant period worries. Addressing sexism claims, he stated, 'Yes, I'm a man, but women haven't found better than diapers or plugs.' He holds a patent and seeks manufacturing partners. As a medical product, Mensez requires FDA approval and clinical trials before any market launch, prompting widespread debate on its safety and necessity.
