27% of French Adults Favor Total Tobacco Ban, CSA Survey Reveals

French opinions on tackling tobacco use lean toward bold action. A CSA Institute survey for Direct Matin found 27% believe an outright ban would most effectively cut cigarette consumption. Conducted with a representative sample of 1,003 adults aged 18+, the poll highlights public sentiment on proven anti-smoking strategies.

Price Hikes and Full Reimbursement for Quit Aids

This ban idea leads in popularity, especially among non-smokers (29% support). Yet 24% favor raising pack prices alongside full reimbursement for cessation aids. Views split sharply: 27% of non-smokers back price increases (vs. 15% of smokers), while 39% of smokers support aid coverage (vs. 18% of non-smokers).

Prevention campaigns? Only 10% see merit in expanding them. Banning tobacco depictions in films, books, and media appeals to just 3%.
