Flying While Pregnant: Airline Policies and Safety Tips Up to the 8th or 9th Month

If your pregnancy is progressing smoothly, flying remains one of the safest travel options. For Ryanair, Iberia, and Easyjet, from the 7th month, present a recent doctor's letter confirming you're fit to fly. With no complications, travel is allowed until the end of the 8th month—ensure your return flight is before the 35th week!

Even into the 9th month at Air France, American Airlines, or Lufthansa. For a normal pregnancy, you can fly up to the end of the 8th month without special formalities. In the 9th, a medical transport certificate is required.

Essential precautions: Notify the airline when booking for priority boarding and enhanced service. Position the seatbelt under your belly. Drink plenty of water in flight. On long-haul trips, wear compression stockings to reduce phlebitis risk. Choose an aisle seat for easy movement and leg stretches.
