Why Are My Feet Always Cold? Causes and Podiatrist-Recommended Remedies

Experiencing persistently cold feet? The leading cause is often poor blood circulation. Stress can constrict small vessels in the toes, dropping their temperature. Smoking, lack of exercise, and tight socks or shoes—like knee-highs that leave marks—worsen the issue.

To fight back, try a Scottish shower: direct alternating hot and cold water jets from thighs to feet for 3 minutes to stimulate circulation. Dry feet thoroughly afterward (including between toes) before socks, as dampness amplifies cold. Massage feet morning and evening with essential oils like lavender, witch hazel, cypress, lemon, and sweet almond—just 10 drops max in your palm.

Upgrade to socks with bioceramic fibers that massage feet and emit infrared warmth for chilly toes (e.g., Cerasock at www.vivre-mieux.com). Try Kiné care oil +7 for cold feet and hands by Phytosun Arôms (around 12€, pharmacies).

If it persists, see a podiatrist for custom insoles (plantar orthotics) that massage the foot's arch to boost warmth.
