5 Common Food Additives to Avoid for Better Health

1 – Aspartame (E951)

A synthetic sweetener, aspartame has been linked to as many as 92 symptoms, including the serious risk of premature labor. You'll find it in most chewing gums, diet sodas, and 0% fat fruit yogurts. To avoid it, skip "light" or diet-labeled products.

2 – Acesulfame-K (E950)

Typically blended with aspartame or natural alternatives like stevia (as in Teisseire 0% syrup), this synthetic sweetener is suspected of contributing to cancers and leukemias. Opt for 100% organic stevia products instead.

3 – Monosodium Glutamate or MSG (E621)

This flavor enhancer appears in Maggi cubes, ready meals, chips, aperitif snacks, surimi sticks, and even some frozen vegetables. It's accused of neuron damage and worsening cancers. Ditch it by avoiding processed junk foods.

4 – Tartrazine (E102)

A yellow dye used for visual appeal in instant soups and candies (except Haribo), tartrazine can trigger hyperactivity, asthma, hives, rhinitis, and potentially cancer. Choose "dye-free" options.

5 – Calcium Disodium EDTA (E385)

This anti-oxidant is in mayonnaise, canned or frozen vegetables, and shellfish. Risks include abdominal or muscle cramps and blood clotting issues. Stick to fresh produce.
