To introduce you to a region beyond Brittany, I spent a weekend in the Landes. As a thrill-seeker, I can't vacation without adventure—so I challenged myself to discover the area from above with a tandem skydive!
1:30 p.m.: After a long drive, I arrived at the aerodrome.
The door swung open to music and laughter—a perfectly relaxed vibe before the jump! After filling out forms, I awaited the briefing. The hangar was thoughtfully equipped: a bar to grab a drink, chats with seasoned pros, views of parachutists landing, and even a kids' play area.
3:30 p.m.: Briefing time. Despite the chill atmosphere, we stayed laser-focused—safety first. My experienced instructor detailed the jump and landing process, plus optimal body positions.
I met my tandem instructor, Shean, and dedicated cameraman. VIP treatment! Shean fitted my harness securely. No fear here!
4:30 p.m.: The group headed to the plane—no plush seats for us adventurers. We sat floor-style, single-file for max focus in golden silence.
Takeoff! I soaked in the Landes' stunning landscapes: endless sandy coasts unfolding. Climbing higher, we pierced the clouds into a vast white sea. Skydiving blends adrenaline with poetic vistas.
Time to summon courage! Pre-jump well-wishes and gear checks. Solo jumpers went first—my heart pounded! Shean and I edged to the door, legs dangling in the void amid surging adrenaline and nerves.
Freefall at terminal velocity—indescribable rush; you must try it! Post-clouds, the canopy deployed for a dizzying aerial ballet. Slower now, I marveled at the panorama.
Ground neared; knees up as briefed. Flawless touchdown. Cameraman rushed over: "Insane sensations!"
Back at the hangar, colorful canopies awaited folding. I got a hands-on lesson in parachute packing—true artistry!
At its core: pure adrenaline, epic views, unforgettable thrills. One downside? Skydiving is highly addictive—I crave more!
