Kick off in Blois at the namesake château, then continue to:

  • Château de Chambord
  • Cheverny Castle
  • The Royal Château of Amboise
  • Château de Chenonceau
  • Langeais Castle
  • The Château of Ussé
  • The Château of Azay-le-Rideau

This route spans 7 days, starting from Blois's paid car park (€12/night). Top up fuel beforehand or head to a dedicated motorhome area for services. Let's dive in.

Château de Blois

Entry is €12/adult. Park in the designated lots and first take in the gardens and its four distinct façades, reflecting centuries of evolving architecture from the 13th to 17th century. Inside, explore 30 opulent rooms, including the royal apartments where the Duke of Guise spent his final days, showcasing lavish furnishings.

Château de Chambord

Just 16 km from Blois, allowing time for side activities. Park for €11 (flat rate) or in Europe's vast forest park (1.5 km walk). Marvel at this Renaissance masterpiece with its iconic double spiral staircase leading to the grand hall. Vast, sparsely furnished rooms highlight the extraordinary façade. Commissioned by François Ist in 1519 on the Cosson River's stilts, it was finished in 1547. After wandering rooms, corridors, and gardens, unwind in your motorhome—nearby areas offer overnight spots.

Château de Cheverny

This gem inspired Hergé's Château de Moulinsart from Tintin, evoking childhood nostalgia. Each room boasts unique, Lego-themed decor for all ages. Tintin fans will love the Musée des Secrets de Moulinsart (extra fee). Admission: €12/adult; €17 with gardens, boat, or cart rides.

Château d'Amboise

Motorhome parking fills fast in peak summer—arrive early or park outskirts. Ascend the historic ramp to the Royal Château of Amboise overlooking the Loire River for panoramic views. Nearby, visit Clos Lucé, Leonardo da Vinci's final home, featuring his ingenious models and inventions. En route, spot elegant mansions; overnight at farms or areas.

Château de Chenonceau

Free motorhome parking nearby. This elegant span over the Cher River exudes femininity. Admire lavish rooms, historic paintings, and the delightful floral park. Add a 50-minute Cher cruise for a few euros; adult ticket €14.50.

Château de Langeais

One of the Loire's oldest, blending princely residence and fortress. Discover intricately carved furnishings and summer medieval reenactments. Park at the station lot (100m away). Entry: €10.50/adult.

Château de Villandry

10 km from Langeais—explore charming villages en route. Free parking under the road walls. Famous gardens (€7) dazzle with rare flowers and veggies; full access €11/adult. The imposing castle completes the visit.

Château de Rigny-Ussé

The real-life Sleeping Beauty inspiration. Free lot right in front. Enjoy illuminations till midnight, lavish interiors, walkways, rose garden, and park (€14/person). Private proceeds fund restorations.

Château d'Azay-le-Rideau
