Info-Endometriosis Launches 6 Powerful Short Films to Spotlight Endometriosis Awareness

Endometriosis, a leading cause of infertility, impacts about 1 in 10 women of childbearing age. Yet, it remains underrecognized and often shrouded in taboo. The endometrium, the uterus's inner lining, sheds during menstruation in the absence of pregnancy. In endometriosis, endometrial-like tissue implants outside the uterus—on ovaries, fallopian tubes, or other organs—thickening with hormonal cycles but unable to shed, leading to debilitating pain and other complications.

Marking European Endometriosis Awareness Week (March 4-10, 2019), the Info-Endometriosis association shares intimate stories from affected women and their loved ones. These films explore pain, shame, guilt, and beyond. Discover all six testimonials now.

Talking About Endometriosis

'In the emergency room, they said "endometriosis," but no one explained what the endometrium even is,' shares Coline Beal in one film—highlighting widespread lack of knowledge, even among patients. To amplify these voices, actors like Anna Mouglalis, Camille Chamoux, and Yannick Choirat recreate the raw testimonies. Spearheaded by actress, director, and producer Julie Gayet and Dr. Zacharopoulou, a renowned endometriosis specialist, the campaign ran March 6-12, 2019, in MK2 cinemas and venues across France. It also spread via social media, with daily Instagram posts on @info_endometriosis through March 10.

We commend this vital initiative and encourage you to watch, share, and help destigmatize endometriosis for greater awareness.
