Struggling to get a good night's sleep? Your job might be to blame. A recent UK study by Hillary's surveyed nearly 5,000 people on their sleep habits and quality, uncovering how certain professions take a heavier toll than others.
The results are eye-opening: only 11% of respondents felt they got enough rest nightly, while 89% reported chronic sleep shortages. Notably, 44% attributed their issues to daily stress and caffeine consumption.
Healthcare professionals—doctors, nurses, and anesthetists—top the list of most sleep-deprived, averaging just 4 hours and 15 minutes per night, well below the recommended 8 hours. Peacekeepers and teachers follow closely at 4.5 hours, with journalists and receptionists averaging around 5 hours.
Conversely, hairdressers and beauticians enjoy the best rest at 9 hours and 40 minutes nightly. Telemarketers also sleep soundly, clocking about 8 hours. Considering a career pivot?
