Every 10 minutes in France, someone dies from a heart attack. One in two households faces a domestic accident yearly. Globally, half the world's population risks a natural disaster in their lifetime. Emergencies touch us all—that's why first aid skills are vital. This summer, the French Red Cross, partnering with Hansaplast, launches its Summer Caravan to empower communities with life-saving techniques. From July 8 to August 19, 2017, volunteers will visit 18 cities: Amiens, Calais, Landerneau, Carantec, Royan, Toulouse, Royère-de-Vassivière, Bergerac, Saint-Malo, Bordeaux, Le Grau-du-Roi, Montpellier, Joue-lès-Tours, Marseille, Metz, Lyon, Beaune, and Béziers. Locals, neighbors, and vacationers are invited to join interactive sessions led by experienced Red Cross trainers.
The 60-minute First Aid initiation equips adults and children with simple, proven gestures to stabilize victims until help arrives. The 50-minute Risk Reduction workshop shares expert strategies to anticipate and mitigate disaster threats. Children thrive in 30-minute age-grouped sessions blending first aid basics with fun everyday risk education. Seniors over 60 enjoy the 45-minute “Well-being and Autonomy” program, focusing on fall prevention, basic aid, and wellness essentials. Since 1999, this Red Cross initiative has trained 47,000 people. Ready to join? Visit the Red Cross website for city-specific dates.
