Sarah Ivermee, a mother of 4-year-old Freddie who is hard of hearing, created custom hearing aid covers so her son could proudly embrace his hearing needs among classmates. The idea struck when a friend mentioned her daughter hated wearing hers.
Her mission: Help children with hearing loss see their uniqueness as a strength. Using favorites like Hulk, Hello Kitty, and Chelsea FC, Sarah handcrafts vibrant designs. It’s a hit—even Freddie’s little brother Charlie, who isn’t hard of hearing, clamors to wear them, as Sarah shares on her site: “All children want to wear the prosthetics!”
In 2014, she launched My Lugs from her living room. Today, orders pour in from around the world, with each piece sold for £12.
