One in five Dutch people are staying up late to watch the Winter Olympics in Vancouver, according to a survey by bed manufacturer Auping.
Due to the time difference with Vancouver, many Olympic events air in the evening and overnight hours. Yet Dutch fans remain undeterred. Twenty-two percent find it reasonable to sleep in after a key match, while 8 percent of men say their boss shouldn't complain about arriving late the next day.
Popular sports
Events where the Netherlands has strong medal chances draw the biggest audiences. Skating tops the list at 44 percent, followed by bobsledding at 20 percent. Men favor ice hockey, while women prefer figure skating.
Top three most sleep-inducing sports:
1. Curling (34 percent);
2. Cross-country skiing (22 percent);
3. Biathlon (16 percent).
