If the scar is red, brown, or even slightly swollen, a dermatologist can often make it regress almost completely—regardless of size. White scars are more challenging, potentially requiring up to a year and multiple laser plus injection sessions for lasting results.
Consult a dermatologist first. For swollen scars larger than the original incision, corticosteroid injections flatten them effectively. Flatter scars respond well to at-home silicone gels or scar-reducing dressings. Lasers excel for acne, reddish, or brown marks. White scars benefit from medical micropigmentation to mimic natural skin pigment. Prices start at €60 per injection, up to €500 for a laser package treating acne scars, for example.
