The Adidas Ladies Run lit up Rotterdam on Sunday, June 14. Choi Mi Chung, representing Santé, tackled this distance for the first time and pushed her limits.
For the third year running, 4,000 women converged on the iconic Erasmus Bridge for the Adidas Ladies Run. Record numbers participated: 2,000 in the 5km and 2,000 in the 10km. Around 80% donned pink to support Pink Ribbon, raising over €10,000 for charity. Santé joined the cause, walking strong.
Signing up for the 10km? Could I finish? Had I trained enough? The event website reassured me: fun comes first. It's about community, sportsmanship, shopping, achievement with a playful spirit—and giving back. Exactly our style!
3-2-1-GO!
The target: 10km in under an hour. My sister, a half-marathon veteran, motivated me—the amateur with three months of solid prep. The route looped twice over the Erasmus and Willemsbrug bridges, cheered by crowds, bands, and hydration stations. Dressed in Hawaiian skirts or fun hats, we were pumped. Music blared, nerves buzzed...3-2-1-GO!
The first 5km flew by—a breeze at 27 minutes. My sister and I crossed feeling unstoppable. But after two bridges, fatigue hit; runners glided past. Thirst struck hard. Sipping from those innovative, spill-proof cups while running? A skill to master. With the winner already done in 40 minutes, I powered through, self-pep-talking. A final sprint was my only shot—but from where?
Finish line glory
At 8km, we surged; the end was near! Crowds cheered as we flashed our 'fittest' faces. For a split second, the 72-year-old veteran seemed set to photobomb our finish photo, but a shared glance ignited our sprint. Clocking 58:31, I smashed my goal—yes!
Plans hatched instantly: next event calls, armed with sports glasses, fresh shoes, and a new shirt snagged from the Cruise Terminal expo. Essential upgrades, truly earned.
